First Communion

Faith's First Communion Program is an 8-week program that occurs each spring. Students graduate from Kids of Faith into First Communion in March or April of each year.  The class is held each week during the Sunday School hour.  During those eight weeks we cover the following topics:

  • The Law

  • Grace & Gospel

  • How God give me gifts

  • Real Presence

  • Meal of Forgiveness

  • Blessings received in Holy Communion

  • Table Graces

  • Divine Service

We recommend students complete this program in 5th grade. Students who complete this program must have the intention of entering Confirmation the following year (both programs can also take place simultaneously). Likewise, a student may not enter the Confirmation program unless they have completed or are working to complete the Early Communion Program. Each participant of the Early Communion program will receive a student workbook and Luther's Small Catechism with Explanation - Visual Edition.

Contact the church office or Pastor Woolsey for more information.

What is the Sacrament of the Altar (Lord's Supper, Communion, Eucharist)?

"It is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine, instituted by Christ Himself for us Christians to eat and to drink."
